Sabins on the Sea - Day 10 - Sea Day #5

by Nina Sabin - Travel Blog

Another beautiful day at sea. Today we woke up to wonderful weather. It was about 74 degrees.

I woke up again just before sunrise. This time I was able to get some great photos of the beautiful sunrise.

Instead of working out at the gym, which has become pretty crowded between 7:00 and 8:00 am, I brought some weights up on the tenth floor to the walking track above the pool and did my exercises. It was lovely to be outdoors exercising and enjoying the fresh air.

John worked out at the gym and then followed his routine of going to the sauna.

We found chaise lounges by the indoor pool and brought our breakfast there. We had some from the lido deck and also brought up our room service since we already ordered it.

Tomorrow we are going to skip room service to mix things up. Especially since we are only an eighth of the way through our trip.

We have been gone over a week and been on the cruise exactly a week. The time has gone fast, however, it also feels like we have been gone along time.

It is so nice to be able to relax by the pool, read, and work on my book some.

Today I tried hula dancing. They have a class each day and toward the later part of the trip we are going to perform on the main-stage. We are going to learn three or four dances.

I played Mahjong today and hope to teach John while we are on the cruise.

Later in the afternoon, we met up with the new friends teaching us bridge. Each time we play we are getting better and understanding more. It is so nice of them to offer to teach us.

There was a Ukulele class being taught at one of the bars. Since we arrived late from the bridge lesson; we ended up with the kid Ukuleles. They don’t quite sound the same. Those learning the Ukulele will be playing for the Hula Dancers towards the latter part of the cruise.

Between activities we took a walk on the lower promenade deck where the outside walking trail is located. We were surprised to see a bird flying, since we are in the middle of the ocean and no land near us. I guess the bird was either a stow-a-way or decided the cruise ship was moving land on the ocean.

Today was Gala night, which means people dressed up for dinner. We enjoyed shrimp cocktail, lobster and steak. We were able to get two lobster tails with dinner. They were amazing. The desserts have been incredible. We haven’t had one bad meal. The food taste so good it is hard not to clean your plate - we are eating more food at meals than we usually do at home.

It has been nice having another couple sitting at dinner with us. I think we prefer the set time instead of open seating because we don’t have to wait in any lines and the waiter knows what we like.

Another great performance tonight by a fantastic singer.

What a great way to end the evening.
