Make a Better You - Let Go and Let God
By Nina Sabin - Healthy Tip

Let go and let God are words I heard my whole life growing up. However, I did not really internalize it until this past year. It is interesting how easy it is to say something, think we believe it, but then when situations come up do we truly follow what we say we believe? How often do we pray and say we give this circumstance to you God, but then take it back to try to deal with it through on own methods? When we do this we are saying God, I am not sure I truly believe you are in control of my life. Then what happens? More problems and turmoil seem to surround us, because we are trying to take the control when the truth is we have no control…God is in control.
Last year, we moved back to the US from living overseas for over 16 years. We had to leave the country we were living in quickly. During that time, God taught us that there is nothing in our life that we have control over, but He does; if we totally submit to Him, we will have the peace that surpasses all understanding through each of the storms of life.
These two Bible verses have been foundational through my life: Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways, acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight; and, Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but with prayer and petition present your request to God and the peace of God which surpasses all understanding; will guard your heart and your mind in Christ Jesus.
The truth is when you let go, His peace just floods through your body and no matter what trials, circumstances, or situations you have; you can be at peace because He loves us and is in control.
After moving back to the US, my husband and I felt very lost…no job, no real home, having to make new friends, and find a new church home…in other words we are starting over in our late-40s.
I have struggled with depression in the past. My depression appears to be situational, which means circumstances can trigger a chemical imbalance and cause spiraling into darkness. However, through this whole experience of starting over, I have not struggled once. God has shown me I can be at peace because He is in CONTROL and I have authority over that spirit of depression through God.
During this past year and a half’s journey of starting over in a new place, God has shown us how he provides, prepares the way, and is in total control of our life. Each trial, situation, and circumstance we go through is part of His plan and designed uniquely for each of us.
God opened doors for us from the moment we found out we had to leave all that we knew for over 16 years. I don’t know about you, but for me the unknown can be scary. The good news it doesn’t have to be. Trusting God with ALL things makes the unknown exciting instead of scary. Someone once said to me waiting is a blessing because you are in anticipation of something wonderful God has planned for you in your life.
For us, this the statement above has been true. As we began looking for a new career position, doors were closing left and right. We kept thinking God took us out of last place to this new place for a reason. However, it didn’t appear to be for a job in the traditional or worldly norm. He has opened up doors that are beyond the norm we have known all our life. It is far from what we were doing.
The first opportunity God opened up for my life was becoming a Focus on the Family Digital Outreach Volunteering (DOV). It is amazing how God uses our life experiences to those who are hurting through this ministry. I recently heard the saying broken people help broken people. Through this statement, I also learned that often our emotional and spiritual healing leads to physical healing. So if we can explore and find the underlying reasons for strongholds it will lead us to transformation.
Next, God has shown us more about how His amazing Holy Spirit works through us and that we are just His vessel to bring healing to those in physical, emotional, and spiritual pain. My husband has been having words of wisdom, visions, and doing healings. However, this story will need to be for another blog.
Finally, God has blessed us with this website www.focusonfreedoms.com where we can share His love and the freedoms He has provided in our lives that we can share with the hurting world. Through this website, we are reaching those who are lost, broken, and need the love of God. It also brought me to my current opportunity of being a health and life coach where I receive the privilege of helping people learn about themselves and what is holding them back in all areas of their life from having that true, peaceful, abundant life God has intended for each of us.
Words can’t describe how incredible this journey has been to know without a shadow of a doubt, that God is in control; so we can let go and let God.
Remember to Make a Better You...Let Go and Let Go. May you all have a blessed week and truly feel the peace that surpasses all understanding by letting go and letting God.
