How to Make a Better You – Prayer is the Answer

by Nina Sabin - Healthy Tips

How much time in a day do you think you devote to worrying, stressing, trying to control things, panicking over things, and mainly overthinking? Do you realize how much that affects your physical, mental, and spiritual health?

In life God meant for us to find joy and have it abundantly. John 10:10 - The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly. NIV

We think if we try to do more, spend more time on things, get more education, get advice from others, that things will be OK. But that is not how life works.

The truth is the more we give to God, the more peaceful life we will experience and then we will have that fulfilled abundant life.

So instead of taking everything on yourself, pray and give all your concerns to God. He is waiting for you to let go of them and let Him be in control. 1 Peter 5:7 Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. NLV

Recently, I have been introduced to a whole new understanding about prayer. Andrew Wommack Ministries offers resources that help you understand the amazing Power of Prayer. He also shows you that when we pray, we are actually taking authority over the situation or circumstances we are praying over. He has a book titled, You Already Got It (So Quit Trying to Get It). He provides daily free talks that goes in to details of what this title means.

My take away from his teachings is that each time we pray to God, He immediately answers our prayers. Matthew 7:8 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.

The problem is not that God doesn’t answer our prayers but that there is something in the spiritual realm hindering the answer to the prayer to come in the physical realm. I know that sounds really out there, but Andrew uses many examples of how this took place in his life and the lives of others.

Many people want to blame God for things or say the devil made me do this and there is some truth to that. There is so much about the spiritual realm that we don’t understand, however, there are things that happen beyond our understanding. That is where we have to have faith and know even though we can’t see it or understand it, it still is real.

I have accepted that there are things beyond my understanding and the best thing I can do is pray, have faith, and believe answers do come to pass. When they manifest depends on many variables.

I am still on a journey of trying to understand the Power of Prayer. My recommendation is to daily pray, take time to listen to teachings that explain how the Power of Prayer is real and that as Christians we have more authority over things in our prayer life. It is not that we are in control, it is that God works through the Holy Spirit to make things happen. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ. ESV

Start today as the day you stop everything to pray. When something that is going on in your life that is difficult and you don’t see results, stop and pray, be patient, and know God has already answered your prayer. Even if you don’t see solutions right away, know God already has people planned to use for your answer, it just may take time to manifest.

With every prayer be intentional, be specific, believe God has already answered it and be persistent. Know by praying you have authority over your prayer and your situation. If the answer doesn’t come right away, pray each day until it does. This can be with any situation – health, finances, relationships, etc. God knows what we need.

What is holding you back from believing in the Power of Prayer? Isn’t it time for you to take charge of your life by giving it to God and not trying to handling things yourself? Start by asking God to show you how to pray. If you have never prayed before and don’t know if you have a personal relationship with God begin with this prayer.

The Sinner’s Prayer by Dr. Ray Pritchard

Lord Jesus, for too long I’ve kept you out of my life. I know that I am a sinner and that I cannot save myself. No longer will I close the door when I hear you knocking. By faith I gratefully receive your gift of salvation. I am ready to trust you as my Lord and Savior. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for coming to earth. I believe you are the Son of God who died on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead on the third day. Thank you for bearing my sins and giving me the gift of eternal life. I believe your words are true. Come into my heart, Lord Jesus, and be my Savior. Amen.

Once you allow God to enter your heart, soul and mind, your life will never be the same and you will see amazing changes happen in your life.

It can be hard to take this step to adding prayer into your life, however with support and accountability it becomes possible.

As a healthy life coach, I can give you the tools, support and accountability to help you let go of your past hindrances from prayer and begin to develop a relationship with God, or if you already have a personal relationship with God, how to develop a deeper on through prayer. Remember to make a better you – add prayer into your life.
